Run 138/Week 35 Recap

Good to get a long run in, again. The new shorts and tank are great, but they did not prevent me from getting really sweaty! Still very humid. Feel really good, though, aside from just the heat. Got some water and then felt great!

Run 135

Uff da. That was a hot run. Well, more humid than anything. I'm really glad we went out at 8:30 instead of waiting any longer. I got some new shorts and a new tank, so I wore those and I think they'll help a lot. I got them just at the right time, because the tank is an Under Armor "heatgear" tank, so it got a true workout today.

Run 134/Week 34 Recap

I did the 10k today. It was fun, but I didn't quite get my goal. I was hoping for under 42 minutes, but a good headwind on the front half and just not knowing the course too well anyway. It was in my hometown so it was familiar enough, but I didn't now the distances between landmarks very well anymore. I ran with my mom, brother, and his girlfriend. It was good to see them running. My mom, especially, really has been working hard on getting a half-marathon in October and this was her furthest run so far! My brother and his girlfriend did the 5k and I hope it was encouragement for them to run/exercise more.

Run 132

A later night run. I tried to really push it, in preparation of the 10k this weekend. My legs feel good, but there were a lot of bugs and I had to slow down to try to get some out of my eyes and mouth. Annoying but that's okay. I'll run tomorrow during lunch, take Friday off, and do the race on Saturday.

Run 130/Week 33 Recap

I am "bacheloring" it this weekend, so I decided it would be nice to go for a long run before tackling some projects today. I ran around Clear Lake, which was a lot of fun. I'd only ridden bike around the lake once last year, so I was sorta making up the route, but I got back to my car, so I'll count it as a victory. It was good to get out and do a long run again. I've learned a lot about distance running since my marathon, and this was the furthest I've gone since the marathon, so it was nice to get out again.

A little longer run than I planned today, because my daughter fell asleep pretty quickly, so I decided to do another lap so she could sleep longer. Running in my minimalist shoes really has helped my form again, as I took about a month off from them. I feel it in my calves when I run, but that just means they're getting stronger.

Run 127

Was good to get back to my normal route. I like exploring and stuff, there's a good little comfort from knowing a trail or road so well that it allows you to do some inward exploration, instead of all outward. I went in my Minimus, which I haven't done in probably close to a month, so that felt good, too. Although it definitely uses my calves more than my Nike Frees do. Now, I'm starting to prepare for another marathon, this time it's in Mason City, so I should be able to cut some good time off my pace. Or, at least, I hope so.
