Run 87

A nice easy run for this Friday. I'm still thinking I'd like to do a longer run tomorrow, so I don't want to spend all my extra energy on shorter runs. Plus, I'm trying to work on pacing a bit more. I can do short runs at a much faster pace, but I imagine that if I can settle into a slower pace I'll finish faster and with more energy than if I burn out after 10 miles with 16 to go.

Run 85

I told you I'd make it up. Memorial Day meant that my wife was off work. We went to the outlet mall in Owatonna, MN with her sister and her fiance. After getting home, there was a break in the rain, so I went for the long run I have been putting off for the last few weeks. The rain picked up on the last of my 6 mile laps, but I wasn't going to stop after going that far. Felt good. I think if I had been running with people, on a roped off course, and not sopping wet, I may have been able to cut some more time off, but I'm just happy to have been able to run that far. A personal distance record for me!

It was a hard, emotional day at work. A few hard funerals. It felt good to get out and run, even though it was raining. Run 81

Went for a run while my wife was home for lunch. I needed to be fast and my normal route was closed, so I basically took off in one direction, turned around at 20 minutes, and came back. Just as far as I usually go, but much faster. Nice! My first sub-7 ever, I think! Also, it was nice to be my Minimus after that bad run on Saturday. No blisters from these shoes and I feel great during and after my runs when I am in shoes that work well for me.

Run 80/Week 20 Recap

My shoes were still soaked from the rain yesterday, so I had to run in a pair of shoes that I bought at the beginning of the year to eventually replace the shoes I started the year in. Long story short: I'm still in those first shoes and I don't like these shoes. They are very thick soled shoes and I can't really feel the ground beneath my feet. It felt a bit like trying to tie your shoes with gloves on. I think I'll probably sell them and use the money to buy another pair of AdiZeros or Minimus Roads.

Run 72/Week 18 Recap

With the trails not being cleared yet, I mapped out a different route. It did require some snow jumping and I had to wait for traffic many times, so that's reflected in my time. Still, I was able to settle into a very comfortable pace and honestly feel great! If I can find that groove in a marathon, I should be able to finish with sub-8s pretty easily, I'd think.
